MIDWEEK INVITATION CUP

Cup Entry

​

(1) The Competition shall be call the Midweek Invitation Cup and each age group will be referred to as such: Ray Harrison Trophy (Under 13), Peter Cline Trophy (Under 14), Peter Peters Trophy (Under 15), RT Litho Cup (Under 16) & Magnus Cup (Under 17 & Under 18)

(2) The Competition Is open to all Clubs within the EJA or outside Leagues that have a suitable floodlit ground available on more than one day during the week and shall be competed for each season. There needs to be written confirmation of any other League’s permission to participate in the Competition sent to the Midweek Cup Secretary.

 

Control & Management

​

(3) The Football Association Rules, Regulations and Byelaws will apply

 

(4) With the following exceptions the Rules of the Eastern Junior Alliance will apply (No extra time, straight to penalties)

 

(5) The Competition shall be managed by the Management Committee of the Eastern Junior Alliance

(6) The draw for the competition shall be made by the Midweek Cup Secretary prior to the commencement of the season following checks that all applicants are eligible to enter.

 

(7) All fixtures and dates shall be arranged by the Cups Secretary. Each fixture will have a play by date. Any Team unable to play the arranged fixture by that date shall be excluded from taking any further part in that competition. Unless permission is granted by the Cups Secretary. (

 

8) Kick off times for Midweek matches to be between 7pm and 7:45pm unless mutually agreed by both teams.

 

Qualification of Players

 

(9) Each player is cup tied to their own Club and can play for their own age group as well as the next age group up.

 

(10) For a player to be eligible to play in the final they must have played in a previous round.

 

(11) A player who has been suspended may, if otherwise qualified, play in a postponed match or replay. Provided their term of suspension has expired.

 

(12) Any Team found proven to have played an ineligible player will be struck out of the Competition and the match awarded to the opponents.

 

(13) Such Clubs may also be dealt with by the Management Committee.

 

Venues

​

(14) The first club drawn shall, for ties up to and including the semi-final be deemed to be the home team and the matches played on their ground.

 

(15) Following the draw the home club shall provide within three days the Cups Secretary with two dates on which they can play the fixture within 14 days which will then be offered to the opposition. The opposition will agree one of these dates or provide reasons they are unable to agree. If these reasons are deemed acceptable to the Cups Secretary then they will consult with the home club with the possible play dates from the opposition.

 

(16) If the ground of the first drawn club is not available within the period before the ‘play by’ date then the fixture will be reversed. In this event the second named team then become the home team and responsible for meeting the usual hosting requirements, ie payment of the official and hospitality. Rule (15) above will also apply with regards to providing dates.

 

(17) In the event of a match being postponed due to pitch conditions a new date must be agreed within 2 days and if a suitable venue is not available before the ‘play by’ date then the fixture will be reversed (see Rule (16) above.

 

(18) In Special circumstances and with the consent of the Cups Secretary matches may be played at another venue. The Cups Secretary may also request that the fixture be played at a venue that facilitates the match being played before the ‘play by’ date if both venues are deemed unviable.

 

(19) If teams are unable to agree a date or venue before the ‘play by’ date then both will be removed from the competition.

(20) The final tie shall be played on a neutral ground and date arranged by the Management Committee.

​

Finals

​

(21) The Management Committee shall arrange the ground and confirm the match officials. Both competing teams shall provide two match balls each and fully complete a team sheet which shall be given to the match officials at least 15 minutes prior to kick off.

 

(22) A trophy shall be presented to the winning team. (23) Medals shall be awarded to the members of both competing Teams and the Match Officials in the final tie in lieu of their match fees.

(24) Hospitality will be provided by the Management Committee in the Club house for the players and Match Officials. Appeals

​

(25) All breaches of both the Cup Rules or the relevant EJA Rules will be considered by the Management Committee and communicated to the offending club(s) in the usual manner.

​

(26) Any appeals to decisions made by the Cups Secretary may be made to the Sanctioning Authority and their decision will be final.
