EASTERN JUNIOR ALLIANCE LEAGUE

RULES OF THE LEAGUE CUP COMPETITION AND PLAYOFFS

1. The Cup shall be called ‘The Eastern Junior Alliance League Cup’ and consist of a Cup Competition for each age group.
2. The League Cup will be competed for by all Member Clubs. Any Team withdrawing or failing to fulfil a League Cup Competition match shall be removed from the Cup Competition for that season with the tie awarded to the opposition and dealt with at the discretion of the Management Committee.
3. The Competition may be played on a knock-out basis. The ties shall be drawn as soon as possible after each round. If possible, the draw will be made at a Management Committee meeting. In each tie the game shall be played on the ground of the Club first drawn, unless otherwise mutually arranged, and the consent of the Management Committee is obtained except for the Final which will be played at a neutral venue arranged by the Management Committee.
4. If the distance between the two competing teams is more than 50 miles between the two Clubs First Team Ground then KO times must be between 11am and 2pm unless mutually agreed with both teams and the Fixture Secretaries.

5. When the winning Team is ascertained, the League shall present the Cup to the Club. The Club shall be responsible for its return to the League on or before the date set in the ensuing year in good order and condition and engraved. Should the Cup be lost, destroyed by fire or any other cause whilst under the care or custody of the Club, the Club shall refund to the League the amount of the current like-for-like replacement value or the cost of thorough repair in addition to any other penalty which the Management Committee may impose. The written agreement completed and returned to the League Secretary as set out in League Rule 13(A). The Cups will remain the property of The Eastern Junior Alliance League.

6. In addition to the Cup, the League shall present medals to the players and substitutes in the Final tie. If a player taking part in the Final tie is ordered to leave the field for misconduct, the medal to which they may be entitled may be withheld at the discretion of the Management Committee.

7. Only players registered for a Club in the EJA in accordance with League Rule 18 shall be eligible to play for that Club in any one season. A player shall not play for more than one Club in the League Cup/Plate Competition during any one season. A Club playing an ineligible player shall be removed from the Competition and be dealt with at the discretion of the Management Committee.

8. A player shall not be eligible to play in the League Cup Semi Final tie unless they have played in at least two matches in any sanctioned Competition for the said team prior to the date of the semi-final match. In all Competitions, in order to be eligible to play in the Final tie, players must have been correctly eligible for the semi-final round. In exceptional circumstances Clubs can apply to the Management Committee for dispensation for exemption from this Rule.

9. In the event of any team found to have played an ineligible player in a match or matches will be removed from the Competition and the tie awarded to the opposition. A fine will be imposed at the discretion of the Management Committee.

10. In all rounds, including the Final, the correct format of minutes for the age group must be played in all matches. If the Teams are level after this, an extra 10 minutes each way will be played (extra 15 minutes at U18s). If the scores are level after extra time has been played the tie shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark, in accordance with the Laws of the Game.

11. Match official fees are to be shared between the two competing Clubs except in the Final when they will be paid by the Management Committee direct.

12. All EJA League rules apply to the EJA League Cup Competition unless a specific rule is listed elsewhere.

PLAYOFFS

The above rules will also apply to the Play-Off Competitions to determine the age group Champion of Champions with the exception of:

1. The play-off competition format to be determined in each playing season by the Management Committee. The winning team in each age group division at the conclusion of the season, or the team leading each division on a date specified at the start of the season by the Management Committee, shall be invited to participate in the play-off competition.

2. A Player shall not be eligible to play for a Team in any special championship deciding Competition Match (as specified in Rule 22(C)) unless the Player has played four Competition Matches for that Team in the current Playing Season.

3. The Play-Off Competition takes place on the Sundays in May, if any team is not available to play when the games are scheduled then they can mutually agree to play midweek during the week before the scheduled date of play and pay any associated costs above what the League would have paid or they will forfeit the match and the opposition will go through to the next round. If any team is taking part in outside competitions or tours that are unable to take part when the matches are scheduled will automatically be removed from the Play Off Competition.
