Our U16 Herts / Beds and London rep team turned up to play Luton Town at their training ground at Baldock to be informed that they were to play their U17/18 College Scheme. This was not what we expected. It was unfortunate that one of our Clubs would not let boys play against Luton so we were down in numbers before we started. We also lost a couple of boys because they were unable to get to the ground. Thanks to the Manager and help of our Club managers we were able to draft in extra boys.

Although we were at an age disadvantage the boys played exceptionally well. Their passing and ball control were exceptional. They kept their shape and played as a team. Talking and encouraging each other all through the game. It amazes me how we manage to bring together boys that have not played together to represent the league and they gel so well. You would think they played together every week.

Win or lose it made no difference the boys gave everything they had and were a credit not only to themselves but also to their Clubs and most certainly to our League. The game was not one-sided and play moved from end to end the eventual score being a 6-1 victory.

We would like to thank the following boys for representing the League on the 23rd December

Stefano Matteo Said
Bradley Heaps
Brandon James
William McCllend
Mathew Adams
Robert Banks
Charlie Hannam
Lewis Ellis
Callum Stead
Abiola Showunmi
Robbie Buchanan
Luca Stalham
Ellis Routledge
Matteo Esposito

Manager: Richard James

The skills of our boys certainly shone through. Our keepers defenders, midfielders and strikers were all exceptional and a pleasure to watch. Richard James did a marvellous job getting the boys to play as a team and what a team they turned out to be.

So once again thank you for showing why the EJA League is valuable to the development of Youth football and congratulations on an exceptional win boys.
